1SG (R) Nate Aguinaga

1SG (R) Nate Aguinaga sat down with me for Heroes Live. From the Foxhole. Ranger school. Two hours of sleep and half an MRE. That view does not leave you.

Rob Maggot was his big brother in the Army. Nate followed him. First sergeant after him. Jumpmaster instructor after him. Maggot showed him what to do and sometimes what not to do. When Maggot’s memory started to go in 2016, that is part of why this whole thing exists.

We grabbed a beer and talked the way you talk in a foxhole. Current events. Old Army. The country. He has written books. The Division. Lifer. One Term after 2020. He promotes other people’s stories as hard as his own.

Nephews JD and Zach are Navy officers in pilot training. Landing on carriers. He saluted them with a Navy cup the night we talked.

Thank you, Nate. That is why we hit record. Get the story on tape before we are too old or too sick to tell it.
