LTC (R) Chris Fox
Special Forces · United States Army · Afghanistan 2011

LTC (R) Chris Fox sat down with me for Heroes Live.
Green Beret. Snake eater. A man of faith. We have spent hours on scripture and war. This one started as a pre-show. Just me and Foxy.
He grew up eighteen miles south of Boston. Brockton, Massachusetts. Marvelous Marvin Hagler fought out of there with the Petronelli brothers. Chris went to basketball camp with Hagler's sons. Red Sox. Celtics. Larry Bird. The Bruins. He measures a life by his teams.
He has a chair from Fenway Park. Afghanistan. 2011. Right seat ride at Bagram. Joint Operations Center floor. A Yankee Stadium chair. It belonged to the battalion commander he was replacing. Chris is from Boston. He hates the Yankees. He sat in that chair and had an NCO take a picture.
He went home with two months left. He blew the photo to an 8x10. He wrote the president of the Red Sox. He was bringing a 500-man Special Forces task force. There was a Yankee chair at Bagram. He wanted one from Fenway. Three or four days later the XO called. They shipped the chair to Bragg. He took it over. The soldiers built a stand and put a plaque on it. For two weeks both chairs sat next to each other. After the tour the Red Sox told him to keep it.
That chair was his throne. His 9mm scraped the back panel thousands of times. He still has it.
He mentors the same way he fought. Try it. If it does not work try something different. Practice does not make perfect. Perfect practice does. Take a nugget from everyone you meet.
He gave a final salute. Legal Six signing out. That is why we hit record. Get the story on tape before we are too old or too sick to tell it.
