Shared Adversity Builds Teams
An essay by William Marshall
Posted on Facebook
Ever walked for twelve miles with someone? Ever walk twelve miles with a pack, a helmet, and a rifle? Ever walk for twelve miles with a pack, a helmet, a rifle, and have to be there so fast that you have to run at least part of it? Your bones ache when you are done. For days.
As I look back upon my life and the teams I have been a part of, it is clear to me that shared adversity builds teams. I am thankful for those miles and those teams, then and now.
Those accomplishments that we made together built us and our teams.
We are still on a team, aren’t we. Me and you. We walked those miles together. Are walking them together. Thanks for carrying your pack along with me.
Our shared adversity builds teams.
