CW3 (R) Nathan Singer

Cold Steel · 3-4 ADA, 82nd Airborne · United States Army · 1990s–2020s

CW3 (R) Nathan Singer sat down with me for Heroes I Know. Seventy minutes. Charlie Battery. Cold Steel. Prepare to move forward.

Military brat. Father almost ten years. Atomic demolitions. ADM. Germany. Fort Hood. Copperas Cove as a kid. Then dad got out. Nathan wanted airborne. Jump out of aircraft and blow things up. Recruiter said these guys do computer stuff. He picked the middle.

Fast tracker. First Korea was a reality check from a small town. Crazy team leader. Battalion test-jumped the Stinger missile jump pack on C-17s. C-5 test jump scared him. A couple of passes had not gone well.

Training warrant. Then operations. Retired last September. All-American 82 woodwork. Foundation of growing up in the military was 3-4 and the 82nd. Thank you, Chief. That is why we hit record. Get the story on tape before we are too old or too sick to tell it.
