CSM (R) Chad McNeish
82nd Airborne · 3-4 ADA · United States Army · 1990s–2010s
Heard once
CSM (R) Chad McNeish sat down with me for Heroes I Know. Archer Seven. His reputation preceded him everywhere he went.
Born in Ohio. About forty-five minutes east of Columbus. Zanesville. The family is still there. Buckeye football when he can. He grew up a military brat. Dad was Army. Four high schools. Graduated a full semester early because of it.
Korea with his father. Eighth Army. Yongsan. Seoul American High School for a couple of years. Tight American community. That is a different kind of growing up.
He was a first sergeant. Years down the road his battalion CSM had been a roommate years before. Good advice down the hall. That is how those batteries worked. You grew up with the same people and then you led them.
He has done it all. He signed out the way a command sergeant major should. Attention. Archer Seven. Signing out.
Proud of him. Proud to call him a hero I know. Thank you, Sergeant Major. That is why we hit record. Get the story on tape before we are too old or too sick to tell it.
