1SG (R) Albert Hinton

1SG (R) Albert Hinton sat down with me for Heroes I Know. Sixty-five minutes. Advanced Airborne School. 82nd legend.

Active duty 1988. Young private. An opportunity. He ended up working at Advanced Airborne School and retiring out as the first sergeant of that place. All the way up until the end.

John Thornton was his trainer. When Hinton showed up I saw him that day and told my wife that is the guy. BAR is gone now. The units run basic airborne refresher themselves. He still talks about what the school was when the black hats owned it.

Would he go back. No. He is enjoying retirement. The influence on the general enlisted soldier was the greatest accomplishment. Thank you, Top. That is why we hit record. Get the story on tape before we are too old or too sick to tell it.
