Heroes I Know
Tell the stories before they are lost.
We sit down with soldiers, leaders, and veterans from every walk of life and simply give them the space to talk.
At Marshall in the Middle — Heroes I Know, our mission is simple:
Tell the stories of the men and women who served — before those stories are lost.
These are not just war stories. They are stories of service, sacrifice, leadership, family, and life after the uniform. We believe every veteran has a story worth telling — not just the generals, not just the famous, but the quiet professionals, the NCOs, the young troopers, the everyday heroes.
Every veteran carries experiences that most Americans will never see. Leadership under pressure. Brotherhood forged in difficult places. Moments of courage, humor, heartbreak, and sacrifice. These stories are part of our nation’s living history, but too often they disappear quietly when a veteran grows older, becomes ill, or passes away.
Once those voices are gone, the stories are gone with them.

In honor
1SG (R) Terry Raynor
The veteran community lost a good man with the passing of First Sergeant (Retired) Terry Raynor. Terry was one of those leaders who left a mark on everyone he served with. He was the kind of soldier who believed in doing things the right way, taking care of his people, and carrying himself with the quiet strength that defines the best of the American Army.
For many of us, Terry wasn’t just a fellow veteran — he was a brother. He was Will’s first friend in the Army: the one who took Ginger and Will in and showed them what a friend looked like in this life.
In honor of Terry’s life and legacy, his sister asked that anyone wishing to make a donation in his name consider supporting Marshall in the Middle — Heroes I Know. Donations made in Terry Raynor’s name go directly toward recording, preserving, and sharing the stories of America’s veterans.
Thank you, Terry. Your story matters. Your service mattered. And you will not be forgotten.
