LTC Matt Jamison

3-4 ADA. Sky Strikers. · United States Army · 2003–

Heard once

Lieutenant Colonel Matt Jamison sat down with me for Heroes Live.

Sitting battalion commander. Sky Strikers. Third of the Fourth Air Defense Artillery. By daring deeds. He asked for 3-4. He wanted to be a Sky Striker. First unit he has been in that is actively jumping.

Born in Southern California. Grew up in Virginia. Only child in the house. Wrestling. Then rugby. Hampden-Sydney. Farmville. About a thousand men. Political science. He thought he might be a lawyer. The law classes were his worst. General Sam Wilson was the president. Merrill's Marauders. That man put a hand on him.

Nobody saw the Army coming. He boarded for OCS in Beckley, West Virginia. Shipped from Richmond in June of 2003. Six months later he had a commission. Rhysa started dating him on September 1st, 2001. She was shocked. She backed him. They married while he was a lieutenant. 2006. After Korea. Fourth of July.

Lieutenant time was 1-7 ADA. Straight into a Korea battery move. Two years with that crew. He came into Patriot as an outsider. He learned the pig. The Patriot end item guide. Then four years of command. Most of his captain time. A Patriot battery in 5-52 under Colonel Greg Brady. Then an infantry company. After Korea he was an aide at 32nd.

Today he copied his airborne certificate for Michelle Harris. Rear detachment. She laughed. She was in fifth grade when he finished airborne school. He is not jumpmaster qualified. He manifested anyway. He was jumping with the Executioners the next day.

Gettysburg conference room. History on the walls. He started a junior enlisted leadership council. Lieutenants. A warrant. Junior soldiers. Superstars of every rank. He is getting that battalion ready to deploy.

I stood at that gap. Coin 0034. He is standing there now. That is why we hit record. Get the story on tape before we are too old or too sick to tell it.
