CSM (R) Wade Greene

CSM (R) Wade Greene sat down with me for Heroes I Know. Fifty-one minutes. The most interesting command sergeant major in the world. What a smile.

Military brat from all over. Claims Georgia and Panama City Beach. Closest thing to home. Dad retired when he was in first grade. High school in Georgia. College in Florida. Then the Army. Lives in Tennessee now.

Older brother was the golden child. Eight years older. Big plans for him. Wade enlisted. It kind of broke his father's heart. By the time the pieces fell he was a sergeant first class and he told his dad I do not think you understand the achievement.

Logistics his whole career. Basic at Sill, 1988. AIT at Lee. First sergeant in Germany was Thomas McKinney. Iraq. Afghanistan. FOB Shank between Gardez and Bagram. Getting hit constantly.

Thank you, Sergeant Major. That is why we hit record. Get the story on tape before we are too old or too sick to tell it.
